American Legion Post 297 Home Association


The Post 297 Home Association was originally incorporated with the Missouri Secretary of State in 1946.  The Articles of Corporation were updated with the Secretary of State in 2003.  The Home Association consists of a Board of Directors which owns and manages the grounds, building and the bar business.  The Post 297 Commander, Vice Commander and Adjutant represent the Post; the Auxiliary Unit 297 President, Vice-President and Secretary represent the Auxiliary and the Post 297 Squadron Commander, Vice Commander and Adjutant represent the Sons of the American Legion.  Nine at-large members elected from the Post, Auxiliary and Sons membership make up the remainder of the Post 297 Home Association.  The Home Association Board of Directors meets on the second Monday of each month.

At the monthly Home Association meeting on Monday, June 13, 2022 the following change was made to the bylaws to include Courtesy Card members allowed to bring family and friends to the Legion.

"Friends or family members of current members of any of the Legion organizations (Legionnaires, Auxiliary, Sons, or Courtesy Card) may enter the premises with the member and stay as long as the member stays.  After any adult friend or family member has come to the Legion with the member three (3) times within a year, that friend or family member is required to apply for membership in any Legion organization for which they are eligible or membership as a Courtesy Card member in order to be admitted to the Legion in the future."
